One platform, four roles
Nythic AI set out to replace the scattered mix of tools most institutions run on with a single,
AI-native school management ecosystem. Instead of shipping separate products for separate audiences, it
consolidates four distinct roles - teacher, student, principal and parent - into one system, where every
user signs into a purpose-built portal but draws from the same shared source of truth.
Each role gets exactly what it needs. Teachers set and conduct examinations, publish textbook material
and course resources, and track class-level performance. Students access their coursework and sit
AI-administered assessments. Principals get institution-wide visibility across academics, staff and
operations. And parents follow their child’s progress, attendance and results in real time,
without chasing anyone for an update.
The examination layer is where the AI does the heaviest lifting - generating and evaluating assessments
so that testing becomes continuous rather than a once-a-term administrative event. The platform ships
across desktop, mobile and tablet so each group can work in the format that suits them, and its
intelligence layer runs on direct integrations with the Claude and Gemini APIs, routing each task to
whichever model handles it best.

The cost of a patchwork
Most institutions run on a patchwork of disconnected tools - one system for attendance, another for
marks, a spreadsheet for fees, a messaging app for parents. Information lives in silos, the same data is
entered several times over, and a simple question like ‘how is this student actually doing?’
means stitching together answers from four different places.
Four audiences with genuinely different needs made it harder. A teacher, a student, a principal and a
parent each want a very different view of the same institution, yet they all have to trust that the
numbers in front of them agree. Building four experiences on one shared source of truth - without the
system feeling heavy or generic for any of them - was the core design problem.
And then there were the examinations. Testing is where schools spend enormous manual effort and where
mistakes hurt most. The brief wasn’t simply to digitise the exam paper; it was to let the platform
generate and evaluate assessments reliably enough that continuous testing became practical rather than a
burden.

One source of truth
We started by mapping the institution as one connected system rather than four apps that happen to
share a login. Every role was designed around a single data model, so a mark a teacher enters, a result
a student sees, and a progress update a parent reads are the same fact, surfaced differently - never
re-keyed, never out of sync.
From there we designed each portal around its user’s real workflow and built the platform natively
across desktop, mobile and tablet. The examination and intelligence layer was engineered in parallel: we
integrated the Claude and Gemini APIs directly and routed each task - question generation, evaluation,
summarisation - to the model best suited to it, with the whole system wrapped in role-based access so
each user only ever sees their slice.
