The expert, online
Kadence is one of India’s best-known musical instrument brands — founded in Bengaluru, manufacturing around forty types of instruments across forty categories, and built on a simple founding idea: to fill the gap left by expensive imported brands and make quality instruments affordable for hobbyists and beginners.
Today the brand sells through a wide dealer and distributor network, its own company-owned Xperience stores, and the major e-commerce platforms. That breadth is exactly what creates friction online: a first-time buyer facing dozens of guitars, ukuleles, keyboards and accessories has no reliable way to know which one fits them.
We built an AI module directly into the Kadence website to solve that. It acts as a live product advisor, holding a real conversation with the visitor and then interpreting their answers against the catalogue to surface genuinely appropriate recommendations rather than generic bestsellers.
Every online visitor gets the same guided experience they would get walking into a store and talking to someone who knows the entire range.
02
Too much choice
A wide, affordable range is a commercial strength and a usability problem in the same breath. In a physical store, a staff member absorbs that complexity for the customer, asking a few questions and narrowing forty categories down to the two or three that make sense.
Online, that guidance disappears. A beginner arrives, sees a wall of options across dozens of categories, and has no way to tell an entry-level instrument that suits them from one built for a professional — so they either leave, or fall back on whatever happens to be a bestseller.
The challenge was to recreate the store-floor conversation on the website: not a filter or a spec table, but something that actually understands who the visitor is and what they are trying to do, then recommends accordingly.
03
A real conversation
We designed the advisor around the conversation a good salesperson has, not around a search box. It asks about skill level, musical goals, budget and preferences, and builds an understanding of the visitor before it recommends anything.
That understanding is then interpreted against the live catalogue, so the suggestions that surface are genuinely appropriate to the person in front of it. The whole interaction happens in real time on the site through live chat, with AI-driven suggestions appearing as the conversation develops.
A few principles kept the work honest:
- A conversation modelled on the in-store expert, not a filter
- Questions about skill level, goals, budget and preference
- Recommendations interpreted against the live catalogue
- Genuinely appropriate picks over generic bestsellers
- Real-time suggestions surfaced as the chat develops
- Built directly into the existing Kadence website

Guidance, live
The result is an advisor that gives every online visitor the same guided experience they would get walking into a physical store and talking to a staff member who knows the range. The conversation happens live, and the suggestions evolve as the visitor reveals more about what they want.
Instead of leaving a first-time buyer to interpret forty categories alone, the site now does the interpreting — turning a sprawling, affordable range from an obstacle into the advantage it should be.
What we shipped, built into the site:
- A live, conversational AI product advisor
- Skill, goal, budget and preference profiling per visitor
- Real-time, catalogue-aware recommendations
- Live-chat interaction with suggestions appearing inline
- Coverage across a 40-category instrument catalogue
- The store-floor experience delivered to every visitor

What the advisor changed
The online experience now mirrors what has always worked in the Xperience stores: a knowledgeable guide who narrows the range to what fits. Visitors are no longer left to guess, and the catalogue’s breadth becomes something they can navigate rather than something that stalls them.
For the brand, that means the website finally does justice to the range behind it:
- Every visitor guided rather than left to self-serve
- Breadth of catalogue reframed as an advantage
- Recommendations matched to real skill and intent
- The in-store expert experience made available online
- First-time buyers helped to a confident choice
- A live advisor working across the full catalogue

Range made navigable
Kadence built its name on range and affordability. The AI advisor makes both legible online, giving a first-time buyer the same confident guidance a staff member provides in person.
Because the advisor reads the live catalogue and holds a genuine conversation, it scales with the brand — new instruments and categories simply become part of what it can recommend.
What the brand ended up with is not a chatbot bolted onto a store, but a guided buying experience that turns its greatest online obstacle back into its greatest strength.
